Major changes in Sakai 11
Interface Redesign
Sakai 11 has a completely new look-and-feel, designed to display well on mobile devices. This is definitely the biggest change!
- After logging in to Sakai 11, click on the new Sites button to access your courses.
- On the Sites menu, you can mark any site as a "favorite" by clicking the star next to the site title. Your "favorite" sites always appear along the top bar for quick access.
- Within a course site, a few things have moved around:
- The Publish button is now front and center.
- Controls to "view site as student" are on the left, at the top of the course menu.
- The top button on the course menu is now labeled "Overview". (Previously, it was labeled "Home".)
Lessons
The Lessons tool has been completely redesigned, with consolidated menus, and the ability to arrange content in blocks or columns. Also, instructors can add a question to any page and create checklists to help students stay organized and track their progress.

Tests & Quizzes
- A new question type called hot spot allows you to have students identify specific areas on an image (for example, a place on a map or a part of the body).
- Settings options are much the same, but have been reorganized and streamlined into 4 sections. (There used to be 10!)
