Known Issues/Solutions for Students

Problems Posting in Forums

  • Issue: After creating an initial post in the Discussion Forum, some students are seeing a copy of the previous text when attempting to reply or post a new conversation.
  • Solution: Clearing the cache resolves this issue. For a full clear of the cache, follow these steps:
    1. Log out of Sakai
    2. Clear your browser's cache - see instructions for clearing the cache in most any browser
    3. Close out of the browser completely
    4. Re-open the browser, log in again, and things should work fine!

Note: This should solve the problem so that it does not recur. However, if you use another browser or computer, you may have to clear the cache there as well. If the problem occurs more than a few times on the same computer or browser, please contact sakaihelp@durhamtech.edu.

Problems Replying in Forums

  • Issue: When trying to reply in a Forum, some students get the Alert/Error message below:

Alert: Unable to complete your request because it appears you are using multiple tabs.
Please close all your browser windows and try again.
If you were not using multiple tabs, please contact your system administrator.

  • Solution: You can't use the web browser BACK button when working in Sakai.
  • To avoid the error in the future -- use the links within Sakai to navigate around.
