Issues/Solutions for Students

Problems Posting in Forums

ISSUE: Some students have reported problems when trying to post in the Forum. For example, you may experience one or more of these problems:

  • When you click the Post button, nothing happens, and you have to click it again;
  • You have to try several times to make a post, which results in multiples of the same post;
  • When you start a new post or reply, the box contains text from an earlier post; OR
  • You receive an error message.

SOLUTION: You must clear your browser cache to resolve this problem and to prevent it from happening again! For a full clear of the cache, follow these steps:

  1. Log out of Sakai
  2. Clear your browser's cache - see instructions for clearing the cache in most any browser
  3. Close out of the browser completely
  4. Re-open the browser, log in again, and things should work fine.

IMPORTANT:

  • If you do not clear your cache, you will most likely run into the problem again.
  • Clearing your cache solves the problem so that it does not happen again. However, if you use another browser or computer, you may have to clear the cache there as well.
  • If the problem occurs more than a few times on the same computer or browser, please contact sakaihelp@durhamtech.edu.
