After the student has emailed the file to the instructor, the instructor can go to the Assignment, and while grading the student's assignment, the instructor can attach the file the student emailed to them (this won't work for Assignments using the Turnitin feature):

  • Click on the Assignments tool on the course menu.
  • Under the Assignment title, click on the Grade link.
  • Below the Student name, click on the Grade link.
    • Type in the Grade.
    • Type in your Instructor (Summary) Comments, to let the student know their file is attached.
    • Under Attachments to Return with Grade, attach the student's file.
      • Either click on Save and Release to Student, if you want the student to see their grade, their returned file and your comments in Assignments (if the Assignment is linked to the Gradebook, the student will also see their grade and your comments in the Gradebook, too)
      • OR
      • Click on Don't Save and Release to Student, if you want to save your changes, but want to later release the grade/returned file/comments to your student.
