When working on a dynamic website like Sakai, old content can get stuck in the browser cache and cause problems. (This is especially true right after you've experienced a "glitch".) If things start acting a little weird, clearing your cache is a good thing to try.

How to clear your browser cache

Chrome

Exit/quit all Chrome browser windows and tabs and re-open the browser.

In the browser bar, enter:

 chrome://settings/clearBrowserData

From Clear browsing data:, (if needed) click on the "Advanced" tab;

  • Click on the "Time range" drop-down menu, to choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information:
  • To clear your entire cache, select all time.


Select the following:

  • Browsing history
  • Download history
  • Cookies and other site data
  • Cached images and files


Click Clear Data. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Firefox

On the menu bar, select the History menu. (If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible.)

Select Clear Recent History..

  • From the "Time range to clear" drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
  • If needed, next to "Details", click the down arrow to display elements of the history to clear.


Select the following:

  • Browsing & Download history
  • Form & Search history
  • Cookies
  • Cache


Click Clear Now. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Windows 10, Microsoft Edge

To the right of the web address box, select Favorites (a star icon with horizontal lines to the right)

  • On the menu, click History (clock icon)
  • At top right, click on the Clear history link


If not already checked, check beside the following:

  • Browsing history
  • Cookies and saved website data
  • Cached data and files
  • Tabs I've set aside or recently closed


Click Clear. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Internet Explorer 10 and higher

Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) > Safety > Delete browsing history....

If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible.

Deselect Preserve Favorites website data, and select:

  • Temporary Internet files or Temporary Internet files and website files
  • Cookies or Cookies and website data
  • History


Click Delete. You will see a confirmation at the bottom of the window when the process is complete.

Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.
