joule Synchronous/Adobe Connect

This is an interesting video that shows the Adobe Connect integration with joule2 and how to set up a meeting. I didn't see this video in the list that Chris sent last week.

Points I found interesting: (:33)

  • up to 100 users per room

Settings: (:54)

  • add an joule synchronous activity
  • conflict status - if two meetings are scheduled at conflicting times, then an admin will be able to resolve this conflict (what does that mean??)
  • private meeting - meeting displayed within the course (that's good)
  • invite - able to invite all course users by default (that's good)

Click meeting to join (3:40 - end)

  • opens Adobe Connect - no login required (that's good)
  • Adobe Connect tools tutorial

Google Apps

We don't have a video on this one yet, but here are some details on the Google Apps integration.

Moodlerooms and Google collaborated to integrate Google Apps Education Edition™ with Moodle. The integration enhances the powerful functionality of Moodle by enabling users to concurrently use the valuable productivity tools of Google Apps (like Gmail™, Google Docs™, Google Calendar™ and Google Talk™).

  • Features and Benefits:*
  - *Productivity --* Add productivity functions of Google Apps Education
Edition to Moodle to create a powerful, all-in-one platform.
  - *Two-For-One User Creation --* When users are created in Moodle, they
are also automatically created in Google Apps with the same user name and
password, decreasing the number of logins that users have to remember.
  - *Single Sign-On --* Users are automatically logged in to Google when
they log in to Moodle so they don’t have to sign in twice.
  - *Compatibility --* Google Docs is compatible with any operating system
  or software.
  - *Convenience --* Google Apps tools can be accessed from within Moodle
without taking users away from the original page. Features open in a new
tab, allowing users to easily navigate between Moodle and Google.
  - *Communication --* In addition to the chat and forum discussion
features of Moodle, users can also communicate using the well-known Gmail
  feature of Google Apps.
  - *Collaboration --* Groups can synchronously work together on documents,
presentations, etc., in Google Docs without having to be in the same place.
  - *Organization --* Students and educators can have an e-mail dedicated
to their courses, as well as work on and save assignments in Google Docs for
the same anytime, anywhere access as Moodle.
  - *Open Source --* The integration code for the integration is open
source - as is Moodle - and is freely available to everyone.
  - *Versioning --* Google Apps provides a single productivity suite for
everyone to use, eliminating file compatibility issues.

Questions? Which theme is Chris using in his demo course? Why does breadcrumb trail not work?
