This tool was custom-designed by our vendor (Longsight). Similar to Blackboard's "Performance Dashboard," it provides a quick look at students' activity in the course (when they first/last logged in, total time spent in the course site, etc). If you enable this tool, a User Activity button is added to your course menu, which you can hide from students if you want (under Site Info > Page Order). If you leave it visible to students, they can click it to see their own stats only. Once you have some student activity to view, I think you'll see that this is a great tool! Please note that these stats are updated only once per day.

This tool allows a way for students to sign up for events, such as office hours, class presentations, or meetings. Instructors can use the tool to create a set of time slots, then students can sign up for the one they want. It's a powerful, potentially useful tool that we haven't had time to learn yet, but I wanted to let you know it was available. If you want to learn more, check out this blog post from Duke: http://tinyurl.com/sakai-signup
