VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: Sharing Your Screen (Doing a Demo) So to share our screen, we have to use our computer, a laptop, a PC, or we can use a Mac. We cannot share our screen with a mobile device. Our students can use mobile devices, but to share our screen we have to use a desktop, laptop, or Mac. So we also recommend Firefox or Chrome. I'm using Chrome right now. So why would you share your screen? Well, you'd share your screen because you want to show the Durham Tech website, or you want to show a tour of your Sakai site, or you might want to show someone how to create a reference in a document. There is all sorts of things that you could use it for. So let's start sharing our screen. We're going to go to the bottom and we haven't used this little icon below our presentation area, a little monitor, we'll click on it. And we have a couple of choices here. We can show our entire screen, which means we can jump around. We can go to an application right now or have a recording application, as well as BigBlueButton running. Or we can go to one of our three Chrome tabs. Well, I couldn't go anywhere else if I just clicked on the home site for Durham Tech. So I'm going to choose your entire screen. And you might not have two screens. You'll just have one choice. And you'll click on the image that displays. And now you can click on the Share button. Once you click on the Share button, you're going to have a little pop-up that occurs. And you'll be able to stop sharing at any time or you can click again on the screen below. So right now, our students -- um-- are seeing what-- nothing. [LAUGHS] Because we haven't gone anywhere yet. So as soon as I click on a tab or I click on an application I had open -- Ooh. I already had to have Sakai open. Now I can show my students different parts of our site, such as the Overview page, the Syllabus, we can even show them the Roster. There's my goofy little picture. Okay. What if we want to go to a different website? I can click on a tab I'd already opened with Durham Tech's website. So those are some of the things I could do. I could also open a PowerPoint, or a Word document, but it'd be nice if those were already ready to go. Let's go back to BigBlueButton. Now what I need to do is my students aren't seeing anything, so I need to stop sharing. What will my students see now? They'll go right back to this screen and see everything that's displayed in my presentation area. So let's show them a new slide. All right. Very good.
